Rincón de la Vieja is the largest and most active volcano in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. With an elevation of 1,916 meters (6,286 feet) and a width of nine miles (15 km), this giant is known as the “Colossus of Guanacaste”.

Note: Due to volcanic activity, it is important to check park conditions before your visit. Also, be aware that due to the size of this volcano, there is another National Park entrance from the Alajuela side. Visiting this part allows you to see the crater and explore a rainforest ecosystem.
